Commercial Drone Insurance

Protect your aircraft, equipment, and commercial operations.

Specialist insurance for South African drone operators, with cover options for physical damage, theft, and third-party liability.

Cover designed with South African commercial RPAS operations in mind.

Why commercial drone operators need specialist insurance

A commercial drone operation faces risks that ordinary business insurance may not cover. A crash, equipment theft, damaged payload, or third-party claim can interrupt a project and create a significant financial loss.

South African commercial RPAS operations are regulated under Part 101. SimplyCovered helps operators arrange suitable insurance for their aircraft, payloads, and liability exposures. Insurance supports your risk-management programme, but it does not replace the licences, approvals, operating procedures, or permissions required for a lawful flight.

Third-party liability insurance may also be required by operating approvals, clients, or contracts. Confirm your specific regulatory obligations with SACAA and ask us to help arrange an appropriate liability limit.

Does it cover pilot error?

Hull cover may include accidental damage resulting from pilot error, subject to the policy wording, exclusions, pilot qualifications, approved operations, and compliance with applicable regulations. We will help you compare the terms before you choose cover.
